LIUBEN

SINOPSIS
Victor returns to his home country during the summer holidays. He's in his early twenties and grew up in Spain. Victor takes a trip that brings him face to face with his roots: an uninhabited village in the heart of the Balkans, Bulgaria. He meets Liuben, an orphaned Roma teenager who makes a living, among other things, by selling fruit by the side of a roadside. What Liuben really wants is to be a mechanic in Germany, working for a BMW, and earn a lot of money for his girlfriend Ilyana, with whom he's expecting a child. He longs for the family he never had, far from the orphanage, in a country full of possibilities... But Ilyana's plan is to travel to Greece with a group of pregnant women who, like her, are going to give birth and sell the babies, returning later with the money. Victor caresses the scars on Liuben's torso: some are signs of his mischievous childhood, others look more recent.
